How to introduce your Dog to Gourmutt

To smoothly transition your dog to a new food, gradually mix the new food with the old over a period of 7-10 days. Start with a small amount of the new food (e.g., 25%) and gradually increase it while decreasing the old food until you're feeding only the new food. Monitor your dog for any signs of digestive upset, and if needed, slow down the transition or consult with your veterinarian.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Gradual Introduction:

  • Days 1-3: Mix 75% of the old food with 25% of the new food.
  • Days 4-6: Mix 50% of the old food with 50% of the new food.
  • Days 7-9: Mix 25% of the old food with 75% of the new food, says Petco.
  • Day 10 and beyond: Feed 100% of the new food.

2. Monitor for Digestive Issues:

  • Watch for signs of stomach upset such as vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite.
  • If your dog experiences digestive issues, slow down the transition process or consider consulting with your veterinarian.

3. Keep to Regular Feeding Times and Habits:

  • Maintain your dog's regular feeding schedule and routine during the transition.
  • Ensure that your dog has access to fresh water at all times.

4. Be Patient:

  • Some dogs may require a slower transition than others, so be patient and adjust the pace as needed.
  • If your dog is particularly sensitive, you may need to extend the transition period beyond 10 days.
How should I set up my subscription?

We recommend ordering a 1 month supply which is based on 2% of body weight daily. For example, a 50lb dog would eat 1lb/day or around 30lbs or 15 loaves total per month). If yours is a large dog, we suggest you order about 1/4 of your order as meatballs for the first month to help with the transition. This first order will give a buffer of about a week's supply for your next shipment. We always recommend keeping 7-10 days extra on hand to avoid stress in unforeseen circumstances.

When will I get my order?

We have several options to get your orders to you on time. Pick up your order in-store, select local delivery (if available) or have your orders shipped nationwide with our express shipping option. We suggest planning to be home for deliveries to ensure your pup's food remains fresh and delicious!

What is in Muttloaf products?

Each batch starts with superior quality, human-grade ingredients including real meat (ground turkey/ground beef, ground turkey/lamb, lamb only OR turkey only – no bones or by-products). Adding whole eggs, sweet potatoes, carrots, rolled oats, green beans, brown rice, green peas, milled flax seed, olive oil, fish oil, cod liver oil, calcium, parsley, rosemary, basil and turmeric provide nutrition, flavor, and makes digestibility easier. Use GOURMUTT KITCHEN products as a stand-alone food staple or as a delicious topper.

Only the good stuff: we skip fillers, preservatives, and anything synthetic or processed—because your pup deserves cuisine, not chemicals.

Battle of the Bowls: Muttballs vs. Muttloaf

When it comes to mealtime favorites, our dogs don’t hold back their opinions—and two of the biggest contenders for “top dog” are our Muttballs and Muttloaf.

Muttballs are bite-sized, protein-packed treats that are perfect for portion control, training rewards, or dogs who like variety at dinner. They’re also an excellent choice for small dogs, since the size makes them easy to chew and enjoy without being overwhelming. Convenient, nutritious, and tail-waggingly good!

Muttloaf, on the other hand, is our hearty, classic option. Think of it as the comfort food of dog meals—sliced, served, and loved by bigger appetites or dogs who enjoy a more substantial dish. Plus, it’s a more economical option, giving you great value while still delivering the same wholesome ingredients your pup loves. Muttloaf and Muttballs are made with the same recipes, ingredients and have the same great nutrition.  The loaves are a great option and easy to portion for larger dogs.  Meatballs are ideal to defrost as needed for smaller dogs and are a convenient option for use as a mix in with premium kibble.

No matter which camp your dog falls into—Team Muttballs or Team Muttloaf—both are made with the same high-quality ingredients, so you can’t go wrong!
